We store our documents in the PPM database.  We have decided to implement the document scanning function that's available in PPM but are having trouble getting it to do anything.

We have followed the instructions that are available in the 14.3 documentation

    1. Enable a virus scanner on the application servers
    2. Set the Java IO Temp Dir in the JVM parameters
    3. Entered the path to the scanner executable in the CS
    4. Enabled the file scanning option in PPM

We are not seeing any activity when documents are uploaded to PPM.

Has anyone got this feature working through PPM with documents in the database as opposed to scanning files in the server file store?

    Hi /people/Owen_R

    See this KB article:

    https://www.ca.com/us/services-support/ca-support/ca-support-online/knowledge-base-articles.tec569127.html

It is possible that either the Scanning Executable file was removed from the server or the configuration in the CA PPM System Administration application is incorrect.

    Check the following:

    1. Login to CA PPM System Administration (CSA).
    2. Select the Server Name
    3. Navigate to Documents and Search tab
    4. Check the value in the 'File Scanning Executable' field
    5. Check to see that the File Scanning Executable file is located in the specified location
    6. If the file is not present in the defined location, move the file to this location
    7. If the file is there and the name of the file is different than the name in CSA
    8. If the location of the Scanning Executable file is on another server ; check the link from the application to the other server where the file resides

    Hope this helps.
