Hi All,

We are tryign to migrate reports from BO to Jasper.

Can anyone let us know the differences between AdHoc Reports and Studio Reports.

Would there be any performance related effcts.

Hi Anusha,

Adhoc reports are domain based reports with limited options for formatting and its for smaller amount of data, where as studio reports are full fledged reporting where you can create reports based on domain or direct SQL.

I would recommend not to write studio reports using domain based  as its has performance issues.

Thanks a lot for the response.

We are currently creating reports in Studio using query.

Do you forsee any disadvantages with Studio Reports.

And also we saw that in AdHoc Reports the user can format the report (Sorting, formatiing cells,etc) where as in Studio Reports the reports are rigid.

Is there a way where such formatting can be made available to users in Studio Reports.

Hi Anusha,

Both kind of reports are pro's and con's. Studio reports are not interactive like sorting/formatting etc but you can always export the same in excel and do it. I don't see any disadvantages for Studio reports rather I prefer studio reports as you have better formatting options and you can build complex reports.

I am sorry, we don't have something from CA, however I will see if I can put together a document based on our experience. However found few discussion around the same in Jaspersoft and hope that will help for now
