Catalog/Unified Self Service - Autofill Search functionality

We have recently introduced USS to our clients, they have complained about the search functionality.

 

Users will search for an employee number

 

The users enter the employee number before clicking the magnifying glass.

If you do this in ServiceDesk, there is an autofill feature.

Is this not a feature in USS/Catalog and if not why not?
