    Hi,

my client has a need to add an image as background image in the login page but when we are trying to update the login.jsp at "E:\CA\USS\OSOP\tomcat-7.0.40\webapps\ROOT\html\portlet\login" folder, it is getting over written as soon as we restart the uss service. So can you please throw some light so that we can do this branding. Thanks Shovan

    Hi Shovan,

    Please check the below Web_URL

If it helps for you in this scenario.

    Hi,

I checked the tecdoc and i feel, this is out of context as I am looking for Unified Self Service (USS) Login Page Customization ; not CA SDM

We need the support on CA USS.

    Thanks

    Hello Shovan.

Please check on the below information I found for you?

And then let me know your findings.

The customization possibilities for USS are limited.
The only customization supported is, changing the USS header logo and favicon and company name via the USS Administrative function/GUI.
To do this, please follow the steps below:
    1) Log into USS as Administrator
    2) Settings
    3) Customization
    4) Modify header logo, favicon, company name.

Further details in the following link: https://wiki.ca.com/display/CASM1401/Modify+Unified+Self-Service

All other customizations are outside the scope of CA Support and would require CA Services.
    To change the logo:
    1) Prepare your company logo.
    For example, mycompany.png.
It is better to have this image file as a 190x37 image file so the logo can display clearly on the web client login page.
    2) Rename the login-logo_190x37.png file in USS-install-folder OSOP\tomcat-7.0.40\webapps\ROOT\html\portlet\login\images
    to orig_login-logo_190x37.png.
    3) Copy your company logo file into this folder and rename it
    to login-logo_190x37.png.
    4) Recycle USS
    5) Inform end users to remove/clear their browser cache/temprary files.

Now when an end user goes to USS web client login page, your company logo will display instead of the out of box one that shows "CA Service Management".

Thanks in advance and kind regards, Louis van Amelsfort.

    Hi Louis,

Thanks for coming back. I understand the OTB support on customization. But as we need something beyond that and that's why I posted in community

As logo is concerned, we have already done it wit our own but our requirement is to publish a image (along with logo) as a background image in the login page of USS to make it lucrative. And we are in a situation, even after changes, restart of USS service is reverting the changes from that page.

    Hope now it clarifies!

    Thanks

    Shovan

    Hi Shovan.

Thanks for your further response and explanation.

A next step then is to get CA Services involved.

For them to analyze whether it is possible at all, customize the USS-Login page according to your requirements.

And when yes, how to implement that then for your environment/company.

As for now and at this stage, that's the way to proceed as far as I know.

Thanks again and kind regards, Louis.

    Hi Shovan.

After further checking/testing for this with F12 in the Chrome browser, I found no reference to any 'image' being used for the USS Login Page.

Which means that you then can not replace that by one of your own. (like e.g. you can for the logo).

To me this shows as 'not possible'.

Please let me know your comments on this.

    Kind regards, Louis.

    Please find the link:

    https://communities.ca.com/message/241800555...

There is an Imagediv, where image can be set either thru renaming the image (explained above)

But I think, we are getting dragged in different direction. We need to know can we have a second picture set as background image.

    Thanks

    Shovan

    Hi Shovan.

Thanks again for thinking with me on this.

And I could reproduce the situation where the change logo only appeared once and then got replaced by the original one.

With the information from the page/community-link you sent me

    (Please find the link: https://communities.ca.com/message/241800555...)

I combined that info with the one I already got and came to the below procedure, to change the logo:

    1) Prepare your company logo. For example, mycompany.png.

It is better to have this image file as a 190x37 image file so the logo can display clearly on the web client login page.

    2) Rename the login-logo_190x37.png file in USS-install-folder

    OSOP\tomcat-7.0.40\webapps\ROOT\html\portlet\login\images to orig_login-logo_190x37.png.

3a) Copy your company logo file into this folder and rename it to login-logo_190x37.png.

3b) Copy your company logo file ALSO into the

    'SelfService'\OSOP\tomcat-7.0.40\webapps\front-office-theme\images\header folder.

    4) Recycle the USS service(s).

    5) Inform end users to remove/clear their browser cache/temporary files.

Step 3b is crucial in this. It will be the file that is 'restored', causing the one-time-only situation.

Please let me know your findings. Thanks and kind regards, Louis.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for your coordination. But if you read my question which is original posted to community, I shared a different concern.

So let me refresh again. We are able to change the logo which gets appeared on top of User Name & Password Form, of the USS login page and thanks again for your detailed solution on the same. But what we asked i.e. Apart from this logo, we want to set another images in rest of the blank area of the login page like a water mark or back ground image.

So please share if you have any solution for that. I know it is a customization and that’s why I put up my query in the Community.

    So few thoughts:

    1.       Can we have some custom div in the same page so that we can populate that div with any images.

    2.       Can we at least change the color of the screen.

We tried few steps but as soon as it is getting restarted, that page is getting reverted; so thinking is there any meta page where we need to do the changes.

    Thanks

    Shovan

    Hi Shovan.

Further exploiting this, did not reveal a 'file to customize the 'div' in'.

Once you are able to get the logo on the login page replaced properly, you might consider to 'paint' another new logo that contains both of the images you want/need?

And then use that .png file in place?

    Kind regards, Louis.

    Hi Shovan.

After reading your latest comment, I have to refer to my earlier message:

After further checking/testing for this with F12 in the Chrome browser, I found no reference to any 'image' being used for the USS Login Page. Other than the 'logo' image. Which you can handle perfectly, as you mentioned.

Which means that you then can not replace that by one of your own. (like e.g. you can for the logo).

And there is no other supported way to customize this then per your request.

Meaning, to me this shows as 'not possible'.

The next thing you then can do is opening an Idea in this same community for this.

Which then can be voted on reviewed there after.

Please let me know your comments on this.

    Thanks and kind regards, Louis.

    quickly from my brain...

under the front office theme/ css folder you must have a custom.css file. All your style customization must go there as this is the last one to be read by liferay.

    Hope this help

In your default theme file add/modify below tag:

    .ppm_login_abs_center{

        background: url(data:image/png;base64,[IMAGE CODE in BASE64]);

        width: 100%;

        height: 100%;

    }

Note: Generate Background Image in BASE64 and replace [IMAGE CODE in BASE64].
