  • 1.  Unable to launch OC on Solaris 11 Client (as JRE 8 no longer supports javaws)

    Posted Jul 26, 2016 03:10 AM

    Hi all,

we just upgraded to Spectrum 10.1.1.

One of our Client-Systems needed to run OC-Application is a Solaris 11 Intelplatform (x86) system.

With Spectrum 10.1.1 JRE 1.8.0_51 is needed on client-systems, but unfortunately JRE 1.8.0_51 for Solaris 11 (x86) no longer supports Java-Webstart (javaws) - what the heck!

Has anybody in the community ever had this issue?

Any hacks to run javaws of older JRE-Installations?

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Lothar

    Hi,

this workaround is  not officially supported by CA, but you can search for an alternative web starter. For example sourceforge->netx.

    Regards,

    Olaf

    Hi Olaf,

the workaround you provided with netx solved the problem.

Many thanks for your quick and helpful response.

Maybe CA will test this and later implement it in docs.
