Layer7 API Management

For login into the gateway for my clients, I have created few Groups for my policies and granted them the permissions, so that the users of the Groups will have the same permissions to login into the gateway. Now as per my requirement is it possible that I can create some REST APIs/services to authenticate rather than creation of groups and users? I mean I need to know any other alternate way to authenticate users/groups.

If you are looking for just straight authentication of whatever form of credentials provided is correct, then you can use the Authenticate against an Identity Provider assertion and choose the Identity Provider previously created (Internal, Federated, LDAP, Policy Backed, etc).
