Can someone please help me with the documentation of NimsoftSLM DB archiving, which would help me to archive data of NimsoftSLM DB.
If someone have then please mail that document on my email id email@example.com
HI can you provide more details?
Do you want to archive alarms, QOS, both or something else?
Is there a reason you just do not increase your retention period?
What do you want to be able to do with the archive data?
If you can provide more details we might be able to provide some additional help
Thanks a lot for your response, i want to archive both alarms and QOS data.
We can't increase retention as it will increase load on DB and then we have to delete alarms and QOS data from DB to freed up some space.
We want to archive the data for customer perspective, if customer asks for older alarms which are not in DB then we can provide that from archived data.
Hope i have provided you answers of all your queries, please help me with the documentation which would help me to archive data from NimsoftSLM DB.
So I do not have any simple queries that will do what you want.
Because of all of the complex relationships between the tables if you want to run historical reports
you will most likely need to replicate the entire database.
I would think this is probably too complex for a forums discussion. I would suggest you contact your account manager
and engage our Service team to help provide you with a custom solution to this.
There may be others here who have some ideas but I can not think of a SIMPLE way to accomplish what you are looking for.
Thanks again for your response, i am not looking for any queries for archiving.
I wants to know about the mechanism which would help me to archive the DB, if there is any way which would enable me to archive the DB then let me know about that as that would be a great help.
Can you please help me with any documentation which would help me to archive Database.
Or as you mentioned that we need to replicate entire database, how can we achieve that.
Any sort of steps or document would be a great help.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Hello, have you checked out the data_engine settings and adjusted your retention period of holding the QoS data?
This makes a HUGE difference. Our Production DB size went from 1.5TB down to 250GB after tweaking and adjusting the #'s.
Went from 180 days of RAW data down to 14, 150 Hourly and 490 Daily.
In my lab, my 250GB db shrunk down to 24GB after adjusting.
