I have a customer that is wanting to implement a large application into a TEST CA7 environment.   If a batch job abends over night can CA7 email a group distribution list of the abend?   I know this is probably discouraged by CA but this CA7 is not being monitored by a operations group.

Suggestions on how to best approach this so applications can get notified on any job abend?

    Thanks,

    Barry

Yes, CA7 can email a group distribution list.  A technical document has been created with step-by-step instruction on how to setup the email notification environment within CA 7.  You can google:  TEC428290 or logon to the  https://support.ca.com website for additional detail information.  You can also refer to documentation in the CA Workload Automation SE Interface Reference Guide in Chapter 7.  Once you have reviewed the technical documentation and need further assistance, please open a CA 7 support issue for further best practices approaches.

    thanks

    Melvin,

After reading the TEC document it looks like a ARFSET has to be created and attached to each job based on the return code of each specific job...correct?

So the return code in the DB.1 panel should match what would also be in the ARFSET panel.  So we are defining the RC twice?

You could set up an ARFSET for any non-zero return code, but you would need to be aware that IF the job's return code does not make it go into restart status (fail in 7) then the ARFSET might not 'fire'.  You could also set up different ARFSETs that define specific return codes and attach them to appropriate jobs
