Issue:

When trying to bring up TDoD in IE web browser, I get an "Operation: AuthenticateUser: Plain text authentication is not enabled in your environment - please use AuthenticateSecureUser" error message.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Set up TDoD in the TDoDConfigEditor.exe found in C:\Grid-Tools\TDoD\TDoD_ConfigEditor
  2. Open Internet Explorer web browser.
  3. Go to http://localhost

Expected result: I was taken to the TDoD UI home page where I could login.
Actual result: I received the following error:

"Exception Information:
Operation: AuthenticateUser: Plain text authentication is not enabled in your environment - please use AuthenticateSecureUser."

Environment:

Originally found in Test Data Manager (TDM)-Datamaker 3.2.1, but this error could be seen in any TDM version.

Test Data on Demand (TDoD)

Cause:

This message will be displayed when the 'Disable Plain Text Auth' box is checked in the TDoD Configuration Editor. ElGamal Encryption is not yet supported for the TDoD Service.

Resolution:

You will need to uncheck the 'Disable Plain Text Auth' setting box in the TDoD Configuration Editor.

  1. Go to C:\Grid-Tools\TDoD\TDoD_ConfigEditor
  2. Launch the editor by double clicking on TDoDConfigEditor.exe.
  3. In the window that appears, navigate to the 'Configure Service' tab's 'Advance Setting' tab.
  4. Next to 'Disable Plain Text Auth', uncheck the box.
  5. Click the 'Verify' setting to make sure your other setting details are still valid.
  6. Click the 'Save' button.
  7. Open Internet Explorer web browser.
  8. Go to http://localhost
  9. Login to TDoD with your username and password.

You should now be able to login to TDoD successfully without seeing the error message.

Note: If you encounter any error messages in your TDoD Configuration Editor, please check your log files.

  1. Go to C:\Grid-Tools\TDoD\TDoD_Service\logs
  2. Take note of any error messages in the logs.
  3. If you are unable to resolve the issue based on the message in the log file, please open a support case.
