    Knowledge document: http://www.ca.com/us/support/ca-support-online/product-content/knowledgebase-articles/tec1760615.aspx

    Introduction:

Active Directory (AD) enables your security teams to authenticate and authorize CA Test Data Manager (TDM) user access and privileges from a central location.

To read more about how AD authentication works with TDM-Datamaker, see our online documentation: https://docops.ca.com/ca-test-data-manager/3-5/en/administrating/security/active-directory-integration

    Background:

There are two different methods for activating AD authentication based on what TDM-Datamaker release version you have. TDM 3.1 has a different set of instructions than TDM 3.2. See the instructions section of this document for more information.

    Environment:

CA Test Data Manager- Datamaker 3.1 & 3.2 and above.

    Active Directory

    Instructions for TDM-Datamaker 3.1:

Please refer to our online documentation for steps on how to enable AD Integration for TDM 3.1:https://docops.ca.com/ca-test-data-manager/3-5/en/administrating/security/active-directory-integration/activate-active-directory-integration

With this set of instructions, you will need a candidate key so that CA can create a license that is enabled for your AD group. It is not mentioned how to generate the candidate key in the documentation, so here are the steps on how to accomplish this.

    Create candidate key:

    1. Launch Datamaker.
    2. Sign in and connect to the repository.
    3. Connect to the desired target and source profiles.
    4. Click on the 'Settings' tab at the top of the toolbar.
    5. Choose 'Enter License Key' from the drop down menu.
    6. The license pane will appear and a candidate key will be displayed.
    7. Please copy the candidate key into a text file and save it.

    Create license request case:

    1. Go to https://support.ca.com/irj/portal/anonymous/customercare and fill in the following information.
    2. Type of License: General Licensing for All Other Products.
    3. Problem Description: Require license for Test Data Manager-Datamaker product. Candidate key: (Paste contents of candidate key here)
    4. Product Name: Test Data Manager-Datamaker
    5. Release Name: 3.1 or 3.1.X
    6. What operating system are you using?: Choose from the drop down list.
    7. Do you want to add an attachment?: Yes, you can add the candidate key here as well.
    8. Click the 'Submit' form once all the required fields are filled in.
    9. You will then receive an email with your license case number, and then another email with your new license within 24-48 hours.

    Apply the license:

    1. Launch Datamaker.
    2. Sign in and connect to the repository.
    3. Connect to the desired target and source profiles.
    4. Click on the 'Settings' tab at the top of the toolbar.
    5. Choose 'Enter License Key' from the drop down menu.
    6. The license pane will appear.
    7. Copy the three line key to your clipboard.
    8. Click on the paste button to paste all three lines of the license.
    9. Click the 'Save' button.
    10. You will need to restart Datamaker for the license to take effect.
    11. Continue with the instructions on AD integration: https://docops.ca.com/ca-test-data-manager/3-5/en/administrating/security/active-directory-integration/activate-active-directory-integration

Instructions for TDM-Datamaker 3.2 and above:

If you have TDM with a release version of 3.2 and above, the current way to activate AD Integration is to go into the ‘Users and Groups’ tab and specify the Active Directory Name for the ‘AD’ column.

    1. Launch Datamaker.
    2. Sign in and connect to the repository.
    3. Connect to the desired target and source profiles.
    4. Click on the 'Security' menu at the top of the toolbar.
    5. Choose 'Users and Groups' from the drop down menu.
    6. Sign in with your administrator credentials.
    7. In the 'Maintain Security' window that appears, click on the 'System Settings' tab.
    8. In the 'AD Group' text box, specify the Active Directory name for the AD column. The user must be a member of the AD group in order to log into Datamaker once this setting has been updated.
    9. Click the 'Save' floppy disk icon.
    10. You should get a pop up confirming what the 'AD Group is set to'. Click the 'OK' button.

You have now successfully activated AD integration.

    Additional Information:

If you experience any issues with AD activation or integration, please open a support case.
