Clarity

  • 1.  RPT-0007: Specified report did not execute properly - again

    I have a report designed in Crystal, which executes fine from CA PPM.

    I log into BO and open the report design.

    Save as with a new name.

    Relocate some fields and labels.

    Save again.

    Crate new definition in CA PPM.

    Launch the report and get

    RPT-0007: Specified report did not execute properly - again

     

    What went wrong?

     

    When I open the db Expert and log in, ole the Field Explorer and add a field.

    Save again and re-create the report definition in CA PPM an launch it it get the same error.

     

    The source of the copy still runs just fine.

    First check the logs in Clarity to see the real explanation, the message shown in the UI isn't that useful to us.

    You might be lucky that it's just DB details.

     

    Here's some general trouble shooting steps

     

    • Run report from Clarity = Error message
    • in BO, find the new report you created.
    • Go to the history, are there any instances created from Clarity?
      • if yes, then check the failure message.
        • Check the db details
        • Check the parameters being used are valid (type, values)
      • If no, then there's a problem with the parameters being passed in. (i.e. lookups used)

    I don't have access to the logs.

    Nothing in File - Open > History

    The preview in Crystal is OK,

    Error in Clarity even w/o parameter values.

    Some sort of a problem with the database connection which was not evident in the designer, but could be fixed in CMC by a more skilled user with more access.
