Hi All,

We would like to move one of our existing domain manager from old EM and point to a different Enterprise Manager. While joining the DM to new EM, it is throwing the below error. Any suggestions here ?

Hi Varun,

It could be a port not opened problem.

Check if the TCP port used for SQL Server of mdb DOMAIN database is opened between SQL Server hosting the mdb DOMAIN and new Enterprise.

By default the port is TCP 1433 but it could be different if it is a SQL named instance.

You could find the port number used by opening the properties of DOMAIN and go in tab Database :

We have followed the steps mentioned in the techdoc but still same error message while joining DM to EM. Any other suggestions.?

Hi,

Is [SQL Server Browser] service running?

I'm not sure, but it is possible that remote DB can be found over different network segment.

Hi Varun,

I assume this is a HA setup. If it is make sure that you are able to ping the hostname/IP the EM is trying to connect to.

You should see this in the GUI logs.
