How can I restore tasks auto-deleted when story made into parent

  • 1.  How can I restore tasks auto-deleted when story made into parent

A developer on my team took a regular story in Agile Central, and added a child story to it. This had the effect of deleting all the tasks on the original story, since parent stories can't have tasks. Is there any way to restore these tasks? I have removed the parent-child relationship, but the original story doesn't have the original tasks, and I'm wondering if there is an easy way to restore them.

And why doesn't Rally throw up some sort of warning that it is going to delete tasks?

Hey Mark, good news! The stories weren't deleted, they were moved. This is from the Help article on this: Create a User Story | CA Agile Central Help

    • If a child story is further decomposed or changed to a parent story, any tasks scheduled for that story are now moved from the original story to the first child of the new parent story.

So if you look at the first child, those tasks should be there.  Let me know if that helps!
