I created a defect in Rally which maps to certain single user story. However, I need to apply the same defect ID to another user story. It allows to do this by having user to select "choose" but defect actually moved, meaning it is assigned to new user story to which I wanted to assign, however it is no longer assigned to the original user story.

Is there a way to assign to both?

A defect can only be associated with a single user story. The intent of the relationship the way I understand it is that if during testing on a story you discovered a defect that was caused by that work item then you'd create the defect from the story. Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, the current functionality only allows user to assign one defect to a user story as it is a one to one association.
