  • 1.  Gantt icon exported to Excel - no Hyperlink

    Posted Oct 27, 2016 10:40 AM

Seems like this is a question that should have been asked/answered already, but searching has produced zero hits.

When using "Export to Excel," the Gantt icon is exported to Excel as an image, which could include a hyperlink address, but the address field in the image's properties page is blank.

    This renders the image useless.

Is there anything available that we can change in CA PPM, such that the URL for the Gantt chart will be included in the export to let the image work as a hyperlink?

Sorry don't have an answer, looks like a bug to me, but...

What are you exporting there? A custom portlet? NSQL or object-based? (or the Project list?)

If custom, do you get the right link in the Excel if you construct a text-field (rather than the stock-looking icon) with the Gantt-link associated with it?

    Hi David,

The example shown is out of the box Schedule Dashboard portlet.  User is using the Project List (object based) view.

Our user may be satisfied with the “Export to Excel (data only)” option – it’s not very pretty, but the “1” hyperlink works – could be good enough.

If user isn’t satisfied with this, can suggest custom NSQL portlet, or a custom URL attribute populated by a scheduled job or workflow process – but these workarounds don’t make for happy users, because the app then doesn’t work the same way everywhere.

Thanks for reminder – did this type of workaround some years ago for producing hyperlink on Action Items to a custom “note taking” capability (only process generated Actions Items have the Notes tab; another workaround!).  Had forgotten about this.
