  • 1.  Upgrade Spectrum  from 9.3 to 10.1

    Hi all,

We are currently using spectrum 9.3 and want to migrate it to 10.1.

Few months back we had migrated from 9.2 to 9.3.
At that time we had created temporary VMs and installed spectrum 9.3 and then restored backup of 9.2 to new env i.e. 9.3. and then we made the new version live. ( somewhat similar to swing box method in CA service desk).

Can this method be used for migrating spectrum to 10.1? Can database backup od 9.3 be restored on 10.1?

You won’t be able to do a full database load once you’ve installed a newer version of Spectrum.  You can only do a models only load after the install, so you’ll lose your catalog (which may contain attributes created from imported mibs and/or spectrwatches etc).  It’s still supported, but your catalog will be reverted.

If you want to keep your entire SSdb (models and catalog), you can use the migration method for Spectrum (take your unzipped SSdb file, rename it to dbsavefile.SSdb, put it on the new box in the /SS directory, and then run the 10.1 install on top of it).

    Cheers

Ensure that compatibility meets for 10 .x,it supports only on 64-bit machines .If you have a virtualization platform it would be easy to migrate .Deploy a new vm with 64-bit OS->install 9.3 and load your existing SSDB backup and upgrade to 10.X.

    Hi all,

I am very new to this up-gradation part.Never have done or witnessed it before.

Can anyone help me to prepare a step by step procedure? I tried to follow up-gradation docs on CA website but couldn't figure it out properly.

As suggested by Issac08 we deployed new VMs (2 SS & 1 OC) with 64-bit OS and installed Spectrum 9.3 on them. What needs to be done further?

    Hello,

Assuming the original Spectrum version you are on is Spectrum 9.3, and you have loaded the original/existing Spectrum 9.3 database on the new 64-bit VMs and you are intending to upgrade to Spectrum 10.2. You could upgrade the SpectroSERVERs and the OneClick Server following the below procedure:

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-spectrum/10-2/en/installing-and-upgrading/upgrading-ca-spectrum#UpgradingCASpectrum-UpgradingfromEarlierVersions

If you would like to designate a Secondary Standby SpectroSERVER to not loose data during upgrade, please refer the link:

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-spectrum/10-2/en/installing-and-upgrading/upgrading-ca-spectrum/upgrade-best-practices-dss-deployments-without-fault-tolerance

On how to perform the Spectrum upgrade, please refer the below:

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-spectrum/10-2/en/installing-and-upgrading/upgrading-ca-spectrum/how-to-perform-in-place-upgrades

For information on supported Operating Systems, you could refer:

    https://docops.ca.com/ca-spectrum/10-2/en/installing-and-upgrading/install-ca-spectrum/system-requirements-for-installing-ca-spectrum

    Thank you,

    Best Regards,
