Hi! my question is quite similar to this one ITPAM with Office 365,

Soon the company to which I will provide services will migrate its messaging infrastructure from exchange 2007 to office 365.
I currently have a PAM process that reads a mailbox in Exchange 2007 using the imap protocol and then processes that content for
Create a ticket in service desk. my question is. Can i do this also in office 365? A mailbox can be read from ITPAM using the
Operators or is there any other method like the use of EWS?

    Thank you

I do not know the specifics, which are largely going to come down to how your 365 is configured, but we have clients that are currently running Office365 and are able to reach out for the emails, both using the trigger feature and through the get mail operators.

Mike,  Do you know if those clients are using IMAP in their O365 implementation or using EWS?

I have setup and validated that email operators can connect to and retrieve from outlook365 using the outlook.office365.com address:

So it was still using the IMAP methodology. Thanks Mike.  Appreciate the update.

By EWS you mean Exchange Web Service?

I would assume these would be accessible through normal SOAP operators

Yeah.  I think so.  The question came to me from our exchange admins when I asked about IMAP availability.  At the moment IMAP is disabled in our environment so they were asking whether or not we could use EWS instead.  But the mail trigger config only has options for IMAP.  So we're investigating turning it on to enable this functionality.

Sounds like you have a plan, you know where we are at if you need us.

That is exactly my need. My client disable the IMAP protocol and the EWS would be the option?

My understanding is that EWS can be used with PAM in a process using the SOAP operators.   But if you want to use either the email operators or the mail trigger, that launches processes automatically by continuously scanning a mailbox, you're forced to use IMAP or bust.

If I've misunderstood, I'm happy to be corrected.

Correct, there is no "Trigger" mechanism in Process Automation that I believe could be setup to reach into EWS currently.   This sounds like a great enhancement though and I encourage an IDEA to be created with your business requirements to connect and trigger off emails housed in EWS.
