Load of Management Modules - Invalid References

  • 1.  Load of Management Modules - Invalid References

I am addressing the things seen in our logs regarding management modules. Below are questions I had and the respective example.

    1.) Why does "DummyBundle" appear?

[WARN] [main] [Manager.Bootstrap] The following management modules reference a management module named "*^DummyBundle^*MM Name" which does not exist: []

2.) Why are there cases that it does not contain management module information (empty bracket)? How do we correct the ones that do not contain management module information? If that cannot be corrected is this normal behavior?

[WARN] [main] [Manager.Bootstrap] The following management modules reference a management module named "MM Name" which does not exist: [MM Name]

To help start the conversation, let us know the version of APM you have deployed and the operating system it is installed on.

We recently upgraded to APM 10.3 and have the infrastructure running on RHEL 6.7

So when you say "upgraded”, what version did you upgrade from? Was the installation new and you copied over configuration files, modules, and calculators? Was this an in-place upgrade?

The previous version was 9.6.1.0. For the upgrade we cutover to the new environment having 10.3 set up and configured on new servers. For the modules we copied them from 9.6 to 10.3

    Hi Samantha,

Please see my other message below about missing management modules.  Possibly the name was changed during a copy or missed.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi,

The message refers to a management module that no longer exists.  The existing ones are referencing it through a metric group, alert, calculator or some other element.  Please correct those elements or you could restore the missing management module.

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Samantha:
Was Matt's suggestion helpful/ Did you correct the elements/restore the MM and the issue went away?

    Thanks

    Hal German

    Manish,

You have MM that have references to other modules that are either disabled or removed.

    Hi Manish,

Yes Haruhiko is correct.  Those are missing modules.

    Thanks,

    Matt
