After Spectrum 10.2 update the production server was running fine for about 10 hours then crashed with no errors.  Restart forced database reload but I only have db from ver 10.1.2.  Can I bring this db forward or revert to 10.1.2?

Please open a support case so we can try to figure out why it crashed.

In the meantime…do you have another SpectroSERVER that has 10.2 on it?

If so, take the SSdb from that SS and move it to the machine that crashed and follow the steps below.  If not, the only thing you can do (other than reinstall and/or reload a snapshot) is to initialize to legacy and load the models only from your 10.1.2 SSdb file.

    On the SS that crashed:

First remove the lock file then initialize to legacy:

In the SS directory:  rm .VNMDB.LOCK

    ../SS-Tools/SSdbload -il legacy.SSdb

From command line, load the catalog only from that other SS savefile:

    ../SS-Tools/SSdbload -c ../SS-DB-Backup/SSdbfromotherSS

Then take your latest SSdb savefile (the one from 10.1.2), make sure it is uncompressed, and load the models only back in:

    ../SS-Tools/SSdbload -m ../SS-DB-Backup/SSdbfrom10.1.2

    Save the SSdb

    ../SS-Tools/SSdbsave -cm ../SS-DB-Backup/db_10.2.SSdb

    Start the SS

    Cheers

How about bringing up another 10.1.2 box, load my last db save, then update that one to 10.2; save db now as 10.2 then move it back to the original 10.2 server?

    Hi Jared

That sounds like it should work.

Thank you Jared for reporting this and opening a support case with the requested data.  L2 has taken a triage look at the data and has identified a potential problem with how the SpectroSERVER is handling the new 10.2 multi-config NCM support.  There is still additional analysis of the data that is needed to determine true root case and a possible solution.

Should other customers experience a crash with the 10.2.0 release (or any release), please open a support case and attach any dump files created, the.history file and  VNM.OUT file as minimum data for us to get started with.

As with any SpectroSERVER crash, please take precautions to load in a saved database before restarting the SpectroSERVER.  Please reference the "Recovering from Database Corruption" section of the SpectroSERVER Database Maintenance guide if you are unfamiliar with this process.
