    Problem :

The AdminUI wasn't able to connect to the Policy Server. Looking at the Policy Server at start time, it reported problems such as :

      [2417/4151355104][Sun Mar 13 2016 10:28:23][CServer.cpp:7903]
       [ERROR][sm-Server-01620] Failed to initialize Management
       Thread please remove /tmp/snrrpni€{{€pip
      [2417/3610106736][Sun Mar 13 2016 10:28:23][CServer.cpp:7577]
[ERROR][sm-Server-01610] Error 25 waiting for server
management messages. Error text: Inappropriate ioctl for device
      [2417/3610106736][Sun Mar 13 2016 10:28:23][CServer.cpp:7577]
[ERROR][sm-Server-01610] Error 13 waiting for server management
       messages. Error text: Permission denied

    Cause :

    The Policy Server needs files

      /tmp/GCL-SiteMinder-A.pipe
      /tmp/GCL-SiteMinder-B.pipe
      /tmp/GCL-SiteMinder.sem
      /tmp/snrrpni{{pip

for interprocess information exchange, and if those files don't have the right permissions, then the Policy Server will report the above errors.

    Environment :

      Policy Server 12.52SP1CR01 on Linux

    Resolution :

Stop the Policy Server and AdminUI and on the Policy Server, remove the following files :

      /tmp/GCL-SiteMinder-A.pipe
      /tmp/GCL-SiteMinder-B.pipe
      /tmp/GCL-SiteMinder.sem
      /tmp/snrrpni{{pip

      Start the Policy Server;

Those special files should be accessible to the Policy Server. The are used for some internal memory and process accesses.
