Resource not able to enter Timesheet

  • 1.  Resource not able to enter Timesheet

    Posted Jan 31, 2017 11:21 PM

    Hi,

I've an issue raised by our user internally. The user is allocated in a project where the dated Finish date is 2019, even with the task. But still the users are not able to see their respective timesheet. Is there an issue with access rights or could be some other issue? Is that a resouce can charge timesheet only when the task is started and not when status is Not started.

    Thank you.

    Check for the following:

    1. Resource open for time entry

    2. Track mode Clarity

    3. Resource open for time entry at project team level

    4. Project Open for time entry

    5. Project - track mode = Clarity

    6. Task open for time entry

    7. Parent and sub-parent task for 6. open for time entry as well

    Hi Monica,

The conditions mentioned by NJ should help fix your problem. If not, please check the Date of Hire and Date of Termination to make sure it the timeperiod you are searching for, falls between these 2.

    Thanks,

Hey guys, thanks for the response. It was indeed helpful. Kudos!

Another added tweak to my above question, is it necessary for a resource allocated to a project to be associated with a task to get timesheet available for them? Or mere addition of resource to project would make them to timesheet?

    Thanks in advance.

there is a system-wide option to control that (Admin menu -> timesheet options / Default Time Entry Options)

Allow Assigned Tasks Only (Prevents users from adding, to their timesheets, tasks to which they are not assigned.)

    This is from 14.4

To my recollection that was moved from Global to project level in 13.1 see

You are quite right ; I was recalling/looking in an older system.

    Hi Monica,

If your requirement is to have the resource enter timesheet with just being allocated to a project and not assigned to a task - its not possible. Timesheet can only be entered against an investment - task unless its an indirect time entry, but even that will be created as a task later.

    Thanks,

    Jerin

If your requirement is to have the resource enter timesheet with just being allocated to a project and not assigned to a task - its not possible.

That holds true if the Allow Unassigned Tasks is set to no.

If it is set to true the user can enter time without prior assignments to tasks, but when entering time a task has to be picked.

That task can be the effort task if that exists.

The other thing that's tricked me in the past is the task hierarchy.  'Open for Time Entry' is inherited, meaning if your task is a child of  a parent, and the parent isn't Open for Time Entry, the child task (although its Open for Time Entry flag might be ticked) won't be available.
