Hi,

We have deployed oracle 5.01 probe in CA UIM monitoring 8.47 tool.

We have a user with admin access in oracle created and we are using for making connection in the probe.

We are facing the issue that after successful creation of connection and configuring the parameters we are not receiving any alerts from the probe.

Where can be the issue.

Please check the setup tab and make sure the Generate status only is not checked.

Generate status only is not checked and connection test is also showing successful.

Still alerts are not getting generated.

Please let me know what can be done.

Check if you have selected the correct "Connection" in the profile you created . It would by default be "sample_conn", make sure you select the connection which you have created for your Oracle DB

The connection and profile is also fine.

Few more things to check...

Do you see the checkpoints executing when you check the "status" tab?

Do you see QoS saved for these checkpoints?

Are any of the thresholds being breached at the first place to confirm that the alerts are not being generated ?

Yes..in the status tab all the checkpoints which I have configured are being shown up and getting executed.

They are getting breached also ..as it is being shown in status tab.

The issue is the alerts are not getting up to the UMP console and are not getting logged...for which the issue are unknown and not being catered by the respective teams.

Its bit strange, instead of looking for the alarms against the server did you try look at the alarm console directly and search for the alarm which you see breached ?

I am getting this in my log file.

Yes I searched for alarms but I am not getting any.

Where I can see that QOS are being getting generated or not for the probe metrics.

DrNimBUS is often helpful for problems like this. It is run from the hub and is an option in the Nimsoft program group and an exe in the nimsoft\bin folder. It has an option 'message sniffer' which will show the messages on the bus, both qos & alarm. It can be filtered for that robot and probe to just show messages coming from it.
