  • 1.  Interface_Traffic Probe - Interfaces USM - How delete a interface?

    Posted Mar 30, 2017 10:47 AM

    Hello Folks?

When we add an interface in interface_traffic, the interface is shows up via USM.

    Like the following image

However, the customer could change the configurations of interfaces.

How we could delete an interface from USM?

How we could hide an interface from USM?

How we could delete thousands interfaces from USM in a smart way?

    Best Regards,

    Jean Gomes

    Hi Jean,

I don't believe there is an easy way to do this. If you're referring to interface data from within List Views in USM for instance, if you enable USM debug using Ctrl / and enable the queries, then close the debug window you can refresh the view and double click to drill into the underlying query (which is quite extensive), to see how the data is being fetched and from what tables (See attachment.) It would take quite an effort to take several steps to delete the interface data via the probe as well as the USM views/tables. This would be an excellent enhancement request (Idea).

    Hello.

The interface tree in USM is displayed as far as this is being monitored by interface_traffic probe.

However, if some interfaces are removed from the probe, here is steps to reflect the changes.

    1. Remove an indivisual device from USM

Remove Master Devices - CA Unified Infrastructure Management - 8.4 - CA Technologies Documentation

    2. Clear NIScache from the robot where interface_traffic is running.

    2-1. Stop Nimsoft service

    2-2. Remove <UIM>/niscache/*

    2-3. Start Nimsoft service

    Hi Yu,

I will try, thanks for your tips.

    But, I have a doubt.

After execution of step 1 and step 2, I will need to rediscovery the device, right?

    Regards,

    Jean

    Hello, Jean.

Thank you very much for response.

Please have a minute to mark the thread as answered, if your problem has been solved.

The device inventory off interface_traffic probe is maintained by niscache files in UIM robot.

The inventory is scanned by UIM discovery_server probe at regular basis.

Therefore, you just needed to wait for next scan to be triggered to reflect the change.
