  • 1.  Adding a unique field in APM to be passed to SAM

Is it an XML script or executable that posts data into the directory?  I'm looking to pull a field/comlumn from APM and pass it onto SAM. I know it's a multiple step process (putting the data into a directory and then SAM (data_exchange_external) picks it up and process the files in the directory.  If it is an XML script - what is the name of it and where is it located?

Let's take a step back, exactly what are you trying to accomplish here, e.g. what's the object type and which attribute(s) of the actual objects are you trying to replicate from APM into SAM?

Passing the ASSET Lifecycle Status in APM to Device Status in SAM.

    Hi Jim,

The C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\ITAM\Event Service\ SAMDataSynchConfig.xml file is the file that contains the field mappings for data sent from APM to SAM.

There are some instructions in the .xml file, at the top, on how to modify this file to add APM attributes and map them to the SAM attributes.

It does require some knowledge of both the APM and SAM database tables and columns.

Very important:  Whatever changes you make to the \Event Service\ SAMDataSynchConfig.xml file, then copy this file also to the \Application Server directory (the two files should be the same.)

Also, after changing the .xml file, then be sure to restart the event service, before you test changing data in APM and sending the update to SAM.
