    Gabriel,

    I'm not sure about the implications this might end up causing, but an option in Portal-ext.properties file might help?

    # By Default liferay will not allow mutlibyte characters and non-english characters like
    # set the below flag bypass.liferay.screenname.validation to true
    # to make liferay to allow those characters

    bypass.liferay.screenname.validation=false

    flip the above to true and restart USS and test?

    Gabriel....

    Please share the error from the liferay log and OSOP log with the username that has space.

    Screenshot of error might also help.

    Hi Gabriel.M

    How about trying to set the following in portal-ext.properties

    users.screen.name.validator=com.liferay.portal.security.auth.LiberalScreenNameValidator

    Restart USS service and test it again.

    Note: These things will not work if the user's screen name contains invalid characters such as \ and .

    Thanks

    Junaid

    I would suggest that you open a formal CA Support ticket, if you have not already done so, in order for a CA Support Engineer to further diagnose this issue.

    To anyone coming onto this question, I had opened a case with Support and they confirmed that a space is a special character and a username with one will not be processed.

     Copy and paste some tips about

    Choose a good username

    Your username is the key to your online identity on many sites. Here are some tips for choosing a good user name:

    1. Pick a username that you can remember. If you create a name that's unusual for you, you may not remember it the next time you log on.
    2. Make it simple. Unlike your password, Avoid using too many symbols or upper and lower case letters. It'll slow you down when you type it in.
    3. Never use a social security number as a username or password. Social security numbers may be hard to guess and easy to remember, but they could give malicious fraudsters a coveted piece of personal information that can be exploited.
    4. Decide whether you want to remain anonymous. On some community sites, your user name will appear next to each of your public posts.
    5. Slow down. If you choose a username in haste, you may not be able to change it later. This is especially important for accounts that stay with you for years.

    Disallowed special characters

    At this time, the following characters are excluded from the special character list because they are known to be incompatible with some systems.

    • Space
    • Double Quote:    "
    • Single Quote:    '
    • Backtick:    `
    • Ampersand:    &
    • Left Paren:    (
    • Right Paren:    )
    • Bar:    |
    • Less Than:    <
    • Greater Than:    >
