    Hi All,

I think maybe I am confused or something has changed.

I am using APM 10.5 and need to set an alert via Differential Analysis

The last time I used differential analysis was in 10.1 per the documentation it states as follows:

    Follow these steps:

    In WebView, click Management.
Navigate to Management Modules, Sample, Alerts.

    Click Default Differential Analysis Alert.

The Preview pane shows the default values for the alert.

    10.5 States:

    Follow these steps:

    In WebView, click Management.
In the tree, navigate to Management Modules, Differential Analysis, Alerts.
    Click Default Differential Analysis Alert.
The Preview pane shows the default values for the alert.

I don't see "Differential Analysis" as a folder but, I do see "Differential Controls." But, there is no "Alters" underneath there.

I tried to make an Alert an see if I could it to use differential analysis. Maybe I miss read the instruction or I am looking in the wrong place. (See Attached)

Sorry if this has been answered before.

    Thank you,

    -George

    Hi George,

There are lot of changes in APM 10.5 Differential analysis.

Configure Differential Analysis - CA Application Performance Management - 10.5 - CA Technologies Documentation

But doc shows the same steps for creating a simple alert through MM. I will check internally and let you know if there are any changes in creating alert.

    Regards

    Sri

    Hi Sridevi,

I will review the document and see if it does the trick.

    Thank you.

    George,

Can you please check whether do we have differential analysis listed under elements (which is on the right hand side on your screenshot)

    Regards
    Sri

    George:

Sri has pointed out the DA changes in 10.5 so marking as answered. However, Sri is still researching the alert aspect. Once she gets an answer, Support can make a documentation update/ Knowledge Document with these details.

    Thanks

    HI George,

I tried myself could not find under elements as well. Trying to reach dev team to know if they have moved to some other place or totally removed it.

    Will keep you updated.

    Regards

Hey I have the solution for anyone who needs it.

    The Doc Show:

    10.5 States:

    Follow these steps:

    In WebView, click Management.
In the tree, navigate to Management Modules, Differential Analysis, Alerts.
    Click Default Differential Analysis Alert.
The Preview pane shows the default values for the alert.

    But it should be:

    Metric Browser>Server>Application> Variance>Default>Differential Analysis Control> Subfolder>Metric Grouping

Then right click and select simple alert.

Then it is just like a normal alert. One thing to keep in mind is that it populates as statistical data so 10, 20, 30 are your values So it is really only good for alerts.

While your method does allow you create an alert for your needs, it does not help you to tune the behavior of DA so that you get the notifications you want in Team Center.

Well that is what I was going for was to create the alert. But manipulating it in team center could be my next step. I do know you can set the tolerance values from 1 to 7.

Thanks George for sharing with us.

Here is the information I got from dev team.

The MM for Differential Analysis is removed and everything went into Default MM from 10.5 onwards. You will find the default differential control under Default MM

The alert on top of differential analysis is called Response Time Variance Intensity and should be available under Alerts in same Default MM.

Sri just published a Knowledge Doc on this

Tech Info is working on changing this information in the documentation.
