Used when you create an investment hiearchy, e.g.

    Project (Master) > Project (Child)

    Service (Master) > Project (Child)

    Service (Master) > Service (Child)

    etc....

Clarity: How to configure Investment Hierarchy Views with user-defined custom attributes

    Description:

When a user goes into a Project 123 and clicks on the Hierarchy tab, the user wants to see a custom field (Field ID: csf_reviewer) from the Project Object.
They need this field to find the right 'child' or 'parent' projects for Project 123. How do I add fields from the Project Object to the views listed in the following 3 objects:

    • Investment

    • Investment Rollup

    • Investment Parent

Users can't find their projects associated with their project by using current filter set.

    Solution:

The attributes that you can select for the 'Investment Rollup' views come from the abstract 'Investment' object. If the attribute is only on the Project Object, it won't be available for selection on the Hierarchy pages. The Hierarchy applies to any type of investment, therefore, the abstract 'Investment' object is the one to
control the appearance of attributes. Any user-defined attribute that is created on the Investment Object, is then available for the Project Object or other Non-Project Object (NPIO) views. Any user-defined attribute created directly on the Project object (or other NPIO) is not automatically shown on the 'Investment' abstract object.

You can create a new, unique attribute on the Investment Object and test out this functionality. If this is what you need, and you already have data on attributes for the specific Project object (or other NPIO), you will need to copy the existing data from the old attribute to the new attribute.

The Investment Parent object (ID=investmentallocation) does NOT pull in any attributes from the Investment object (or any other object) to allow for the same kind of configuration on the Hierarchy > Parents view. New, user-defined attributes can be created on the Investment Parent object and added to the Parents List View. Data can be entered on the new field in this list view using the 'Edit Mode'. The attribute data then only applies to the record that is stored for the parent/child relationship on the hierarchy. If the relationship is removed, the user-defined data will be removed with the record. This page is designed to show the current investment's 100% total allocation as a child on one or more parent investment(s). Navigate to the Parent investment and view the other attributes on the Hierarchy Financial Rollup or Effort Rollup views.

    Configuration Steps:

    1. Administration > Studio: Objects > Investment (ID=inv)

    2. Attributes > create new attributes

    3. Views > add the new attributes to investment views

    4. Objects > Views > add the new attributes to the Project Object and other NPIO objects (Application, Asset, Idea, Service, Other Work, Product)

    5. Objects > Investment Rollup (ID=investmenthierarchy)

    6. Views > add the new attributes to the Hierarchy Financial Rollup or Effort Rollup views
