Portlet : Custom

Data Source: Custom Object

I have created custom portlet and it not showing up in the portlet page.

Please note that, I have logged in as an 'admin' and am able view from Administration->Portlet pages but it is not showing from Home->General->Personalize->Add->Select Content page.

Am I missing something?

Note:  The access rights have been provided to both custom portlet and custom object

Any pointer is greatly appreciated

Couple of pointers -

1. Have you updated the rights to the portlet page that you have placed the portlet on

2. I am assuming that you have updated the menus.

Investigate these two first.

<Venkitta> : Yes. As an admin, i have created a separate page/tab and try to add the custom portlet.

What is the category of the portlet created ?

Where are you trying to add the portlet?

The category of the portlet is Business intelligence.

We are trying to add from custom page/tab from Home->General page.

Are you saying you are trying to add it to a tab on the Overview page

like on More in the screen shot or on the Genera tab?

and you do not see it on the list when go to Content and click Add

Did you create the portlet yourself?

If not, go through the access to that portlet in Administration to verify that you have access

Check all types until you see yourself.

Yes.  I was trying to add from General->Overview page.  

I had created the portlet and i have full access to the portlet.

I need to figure out why the portlet is NOT visible when the instance type is set to other than 'General'?

The issue seems to be with instance type.  I changed to 'General' and it worked.

I think that is the standard functionality.

However, as you can see form my screenshots other types of portles are displayed in the list and as well on the tabs of the Overview page.

Yes. There is no problem with the 'Category' but there seems to be issue with instance type.

Sorry about that, I was reading NJ's post and got carried away.

It is the instance type that determines that.

If it is general then you can have it on your custom and OOTB tabs on the Overview page.

If not then you cannot.

Eg if it is project you can only have it on project tabs.

There is nothing a user can do about that, other than just play along.
