Does anyone do a contact sync from service desk to USS contact records? We sync service desk from HR but haven't developed anything for USS.
If you have Service Catalog in conjunction with USS, you can use the Common Administrative Offerings to sync across the 4 products.

So what happens in a scenario where only SDM and USS are they only Service Management products installed and integrated? Say you update the UserID of a contact directly in SDM, what happens to the corresponding contact in USS? Is there anyway to sync this in USS or one has to manually update the contact in USS as well?
There's no out of the box automation when you have SDM/USS only. The same way you change userid in SDM (which is an manual operation right?) you'd have to change it in USS via control panel
