  • 1.  Is it possible to retain and display the date a defect is set to a FIXED state?

    Posted Jun 26, 2017 02:57 PM

My employer is attempting to add metrics around defect resolution cycles and is finding it insufficient to only measure the time between Creation, Open, and Closed dates. We'd like to learn if it's possible to configure (or request as a new feature) the ability to show the FIXED date on a defect record in Rally the same way that these other dates are already recorded.

I don't know how to submit this as an enhancement request, so I'd be grateful for suggestions regarding that process even if there's no clear answer on the question at this time.

Customer requests are an important part of our product backlog, so please continue to submit any suggestions you believe would be useful. Ideas will go through a review process that includes:

    - Documenting and submitting your request to Product Management
    - Aggregating similar requests into a single request
    - Reviewing and prioritizing each request
    - Scheduling the request for a specific release if appropriate

    We appreciate the feedback!

As a work around, you could create your own custom field "Fixed Date", then have a working agreement that team members fill in this date at the same time they change the state to Fixed. You could also create a notification to let you know when a Defect is moved to Fixed, or you could use a web hook to do it automatically. Another possibility is to add a Custom List to your dashboard that shows you what Defects are Fixed but do not have the Fixed Date field filled in. You could then check the Revision History to determine when the Defect was marked Fixed and then update the Fixed Date field.
