    Hi,

We are using CA UIM 8.5.1

    and snmptd probe 3.25

We do link up and link down for a SNMP device.

We are able to capture traps for device link up and link down etc in SNMP Trap Monitor window.

What's the problem we are facing right now is that, we are able to capture link down alarm in UMP alarm window,
but there is no alarm for link up.

Captured link down alarm in UMP alarm window message is " Agent (enterprise: .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5) interface (1) is down" which is not in understandable. Uploading snap for refrence.

Means to say that which actual interface is down it's not showing that, but when we see trap details in SNMP Trap Monitor window, it shows the actual interface which is down. Uploading snap for your refrence.

So my question is that, which variable we use to get understandable alarm in UMP, Uploading snap for your refrence.

    Kindly suggest and do needfull.

    Hi ,
This might be due to known defect for nas .For workaround can try

Go to Nas ->Setup Tab->General Tab->uncheck 'Support for internationalization'

This field is by default enabled

Check if new alarms from snmptd show the interface

    Hi,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

We Go to Nas ->Setup Tab->General Tab->uncheck 'Support for internationalization'

and unchecked Active support for internationalization.

Then we do device link down trap has been captured in SNMP Trap monitor window we are able to see trap details, it's showing that which

    actual interface is down.

But captured link down alarm in UMP alarm window message is " Agent (enterprise: .1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5) interface (6) is down" which is not in understandable. Still we have same problem after performing suggested step.

Then we do device link up trap has been captured in SNMP Trap monitor window we are able to see trap details, it's showing that which

    actual interface is up.

But unfortunately we are not able to caputre any link down alarm in UMP console.

If you have more suggestion to troubleshoot this, kindly suggest and do needfull.

In snmptd probe, alarm is disabled by default for 'Link Up' profile.

    Have you enabled that ?

    Regarding alarm message body

you can customize message body whatever you want it to be.

Message for Link down is by default set as below:

You'll probably need to modify this field according to the variable you require in alarm.
Such as 'Interface $2 is down' if this is what they require.
