    While upgrading CA APM 9.6 to 10.5.2, i got the below error

    Create Database Failed
    Status: ERROR
    Additional Notes: ERROR - psql: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "PostgresAdmin"
    (STDOUT: Cannot check if the user 'admin' already exists on postgres.
    )

    Before installation, i did cleanup PostgreSQL though. Could anyone suggest any fix for this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best, JD

    You cannot do a direct upgrade of PostgreSQL from 9.6 to 10.5.2. The versions changed and so you will have to do a database backup, uninstall PostgreSQL, install the new PostgreSQL, restore the database, and update the schema.

    There is a matrix in the compatibility guide and on that shows the migration path from version to version.

    Make sure your password is correct for your PostgreSQL account. The error message states that password is incorrect. You could just update the password on your server and re-run the install.

    The uninstall does not remove the user account that was created.

    You need to either delete this account or update the password. Both can be done from the "Local Users and Computers” snap-in.
