I am working on ITAM tool, for quite some time, on running a report in the DSM Reporter the last login user account at times do not show. It is showing the first user who ever logged into the system.

Can i please know the reason behind this? Is it a glitch of the tool because it is occurring only in the case of some handful systems not everyone. Any possible workarounds regarding this?

Did the report ever produced the 'last logon' for you ? How is the report defined ?

No the report is producing the Username. The name of the user who is using the asset.

I have a script which can help with this. It collects data about logins including last login, most frequent login, etc. However I am not able to send it until next week.

Yes, that would be very helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

Maybe because more than 1 user account is registered with that Agent/asset ?

Yes, Cristi more than one user do use the asset. First it goes to the L2 Onsite support admin, then to us for some mandatory preliminary works and after that it goes to the Asset holder. But there are kind of 1500+ systems on which we work, Approximately around 1400 systems do show the most recent active user name, but the other 100 systems do not show. Trying to understand what can be the reason behind that.

No Gordon, can you share the procedure to create a report. I am unaware of the process.

Working with the Reporter - CA Client Automation - 14.0 - CA Technologies Documentation

    Open Reporter

    Right-click on a Folder

    Select New report Template

Asset or User Report >  OK

    Name the Report

    Fields Tab    >  Add

Select Fields you want, in you case Unit Relations Tab > Related Units> User Accounts > Name     Add   OK

    OK to Save

Find Report Right-click > Run Report

Yes, on attempting the procedure, are we getting the name of the most recent user of the asset?

I think you get all the user's of the asset (as detected by the DSM Agent), so it's not a single user.

Yes, true. I am getting more than one user across the same asset.

The attached scripts work together to add additional inventory about logged on users. ‘SaveUserData.dms’ runs as a AM Job scheduled on the ‘All User Accounts’ group. It captures data when any user logs on. ‘GetUserData.dms’ runs as an AM Job on the ‘All Computers’ group. It creates inventory for the computer from the saved user data. It captures:

    •   Every user which has logged on (since the scripts were scheduled)

    •   Time of last logon for each user

    •   Number of times each user has logged on

    •   A summary table containing:

    ·         The most recent logged on user

    ·         The time of the most recent logon

    ·         The user which most frequently logs on

    ·         The number of logons for the most frequent user

This data can be reported on by the DSM Reporter like any other inventory, and can be replicated to the DM.

    Hello Stephen.

I'm also in a similar situation, I've been looking for the way to search for the latest active users on each computer, I've seen your scripts and my question is, to implement them you just need to create a new Asset Job (in DSM Explorer) and select it as "Script" type, or something additional must be done for its operation.

Use your resource as a means of testing to observe the behavior of the report

    Thanks for your attention

    Hi Carlos,

That's correct. Just create a new Asset Job for each script and select 'Script' type, then load the script into the job. The scripts should be set to Run Always. Remember though, ‘SaveUserData.dms’ runs as a AM Job scheduled on the ‘All User Accounts’ group, not 'All Computers'. It captures data when any user logs on.

‘GetUserData.dms’ runs as an AM Job on the ‘All Computers’ group.
