  • 1.  Removing old project (scrum team) from the Project Selector

    Posted Jul 27, 2017 04:30 AM

    Scrum teams are modified from time to time.

    For example, when we start a new release, we may add/remove scrum teams.

    In order to keep the project selector drop down clean, I would like to remove "old" scrum teams from it.

    I can think of two ways to do so:

    1- move this project to 'Closed' state

    2- move this project under and artificial "Archived" node in the project tree

    The problem with both options is that this ruins historical data and reports.

    If I look for example at the Release Cumulative Flow report for the previous release, all the data for this project that I closed or moved is not showing anymore.

    Is there a way to remove old scrum teams from the project drop down but still maintain accurate history in the reports?

    Thanks!

    Hi Zakov;

    Either of those should work.  Closing the project will remove it from the hierarchy list, making it invisible as well as inaccessible.  Once closed it can be reopened at any time by a Workspace or Subscription administrator.  Moving the project to an 'Archived' node would make it a little more difficult to find, but it would still be visible and accessible to users with permissions to that node or project hierarchy.

    Thanks for the response.

    I know these methods are working, but my problem was that when using them

    you mess historical data and your historical reports don’t show reliable

    history.

    One example is if I want to know my overall velocity for the project in the

    previous release, once I remove a specific scrum team from the current

    release, its velocity is also removed from the previous release.

    I’m looking for a way of removing a team from the present without changing

    history.

    Remove all user edit access from this project and give only view access.

    Hi Zakov;

    If you still need to access the data, then closing the projects won't help as you stated.  Placing them in a special parent project would move them but they still will be visible to users with access.  Subhendu's suggestion of making them 'viewer' only will not remove them from the project picker, they would have to be made 'no access' for any given user to remain open but not visible to those users with no access.
