  • 1.  NFA Interface Query

    Posted Jul 31, 2017 06:51 AM

    Hi,

    We are using NFA 9.3.7

When we logged in NFA Console>Interfaces>Interface Index>Interface

In Interface Column we are able to see interface 2 interface 3, why it is not auto sync??

    In Speed showing unknown.

    Out speed showing unknown.

    Why they are showing unknown??

Let assume we have 2 interface named Gig 0/1, Gig 0/2, why we are getting Interface 2 & and interface 3??

why we are not getting actual interface name automatically??

Manually we can change the Interface name from here

Is there any setting, that we are missing to get actual interface details by default, rather then interface 2 & interface 3 by default??

    Please kindly suggest.

    In Speed showing unknown.

    Out speed showing unknown.

    Why they are showing unknown??

This information is updated using SNMP, you need to have a snmp profile created and assigned to the device to have the interface speed updated in NFA

Add SNMP Profiles - CA Network Flow Analysis - 9.3.1 - CA Technologies Documentation

btw, as far as I remember assigning the snmp profile should also update the interface name

    Hi,

See what is the current scenerio.

    We installed below NFA components

    • Harvester
    • NFA Console

and we are able to see the data from device end.

We are not using any PC and NPC.

We found a SNMP profile option in NFA Cnsole also.

    When we go Administration>Authentication>SNMP Profile

SNMP is configured in device end, If we add the SNMP profile here, which is not added yet, after that our interface name, interface speed updated, or not??

Yes, please configure SNMP Profile with the community string which has permissions on the device and it should work

As you can see there is a option Do not use for discovery, Please suggest what is it's role, can we check it or not??

Do not check the "Do not use for discovery" box if you want to use the profile for discovery

    Hi,

    Thanks for the suggestions.

It works, after adding SNMP profile, the change also we found that

When we go to Adminstration>System Staus> when we Click on harvester.

    It shows something like that.

This change occurs after adding SNMP profile, since both Harvester and Reporter seems ok, now when we click

    on Harvester these changes happend.

    Kindly suggest

Make sure the Community String noted in Administration--> Watchdog settings matches the string in the SNMP Service on your windows server and restart "NetQoS Reporter/Analyzer Watchdog" and this should start showing up correctly.

In case using systemEDGE to monitor windows server , check below

Tech Tip - NFA: System Status shows "SNMP service errors" with "CA SystemEDGE" installed on NFA servers

    Please read below for understanding
