Layer7 API Management

So I heard about Tactical assertion called Gateway Metrics assertion to capture Service Metrics. Is it recommended to use this in Production env? Is there a cost(performance hit) for using this? Has anyone had any experience with it?

I've seen a least a handful of customers that I'm aware of using this assertion in production without any issues. The information obtained should be narrowed down to node by node information to avoid pulling back all the data for all the nodes.
