Creating CIs in SDM from UIM

There is an integration between UIM and SDM that will open/update Incidents in SDM based on events in UIM. However (unless I have missed something), there is no current integration that will create Configuration Items in SDM CMDB from discovered devices in UIM.

Has anyone come up with a good process for exporting these items from UIM and import them into SDM CMDB and willing to share?

    Hello.

It seems that there is similar Idea related to this.

SDGTW should Create CI in Service Desk Manager

Create CI in Service Desk Manager

    Hello,

apart from creating a new CI, assuming CI is already present in SDM MDB, is it possible to create an incident on SDM from UIM with that affected resource?

    Thanks in advance,

    Vito

For sure I am missing something but from docops:

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The probe supports the following functionalities:

    • Connects CA UIM to different service desk applications and to multiple instances of a single service desk application.
    • Selects an appropriate service desk based on the service desk rules.
    • Assigns an incident to a particular service desk user or group, based on the configuration.
    • Maps the probe alarm fields to relevant service desk incident fields, such as mapping an alarm's severity to the Urgency of a service desk incident.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

nothing related to attach an asset/CI already existing to the created incident! The only part could be "Maps the probe alarm fields to relevant service desk incident fields". Is this functionality you are referring to?

    Thanks in advance,

    Vito

Yes, that is it exactly. The Service Desk attribute (field) is affected_resource.

    Hello,

I've integrated the CA SDM with CA UIM and assign alarm in UIM but it was unable to create ticket in sdm and I've to create an incident ticket so for that what I've to write in Service Desk Field in uim

    Regards,

    Muhtashim.

I see, thank you so much!

And what is the uim field to be used to fill affected resource?

    Thanks in advance

I don't have access to a UIM environment currently but if my memory serves me the name of the UIM field is source.

    Hi Lindsay,

    This should help.

This is not an official integration, so it takes a little prep work, but it does work.

Tech Tip: Importing CA UIM devices into CA Service Desk Manager (CMDB)

Hope that helps.  If there are any questions, please let me know.
