Does restarting the bg fix this problem permanently, temporarily, or not at all?

What is the exact version of CA PPM (including fix pack) that you are running?

Is this a single server or clustered environment?

    Hi Jeanne!!

Sometimes, after restarting the BG, the problem temporarily resolves.

    Sorry, Clarity version 14.4.0.234 05 21.

    We have a cluster (multicast).

    8 app's

    2 BG's

    Thanks!

The most common cause of this issue with delayed action items is a problem of some sort with multicast.  There was a known bug with Clarity that could cause multicast issues.  But that was fixed in 14.4 fix 5 (and 15.1.0.1).  It looks like you are already on fix 5.  So you should not be facing that particular multicast issue.

I think your best bet would be to open a case with support so that one of us can help you go over your multicast setup.

Are you seeing any process delays other than ones related to action items?

    Jeanne

    Hi Jeanne!

Only processes with action items are delay problem.

    I'll contact CA support.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Jeanne!

I have one more question, please.

Always, when process with action item is delayed, the BG status is gray (tooltip). Is this a related problem? Maybe?

PS: Usually, Pre/Pos-Conditions does not update the informations with F5 button.

Why the status is gray, sometimes?

    Thank you very much!

You need check how many process instances are currently running in the application. Process is normally takes some more time, if more process instance (ex. more than 5000 Instances) are running in the system.

    Thanks

    Hi Senthil!

    Thank you.

Normally, we have more than 5000 processes instance.

    Do you have any solution??

    Thanks!

    Here is the solutions.

    Solution 1:

You need to add additional BG to handle more no of process instance.

    Solution 2:

You need to clean up the old running process instance.

Ex: if some of the processes are waiting for approval for long time period (More than 6 months), You can extract the information and ask approver to perform their actions.

    Temp Solution:

Go to Process Engines and click on Process Name --> Click on Run Event-Waiting Steps and verify whether approved/rejected AI moved to next Step.

    Thanks

    Senthil

There is no proven facts that 5k process will lead to delay if the sufficient hardware is in place and your milticast is working properly. As you have raised the ticket we will work with you in order to fiind out the root cause.

    Hi Senthil!!

About solution 1, it is very interesting.

We don't have processes waiting for approval, for more than 1 month, for example.

I tryed run "Run Event-Waiting Steps", but this did not work.

I believe this is a problem.

    Thank you!
