  • 1.  Transaction Correlation for Application in Multiple Zones

    Posted Sep 10, 2017 01:26 AM

    Hi Team,

If the application to be monitored by CA APM is distributed in multiple zones (Webserver in one zone, Database in other zone and so on), how transaction correlation will happen in this case?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Balram

    Hi Balram

Transaction correlation across the applciation zones can be achieved if a Java/.Net agent is installed/running on each zone/layer of the application.

If you search the latest APM documentation wiki for "transaction correlation" or "cross-process" you will find more information e.g.

Collect and Analyze Transaction Traces - CA Application Performance Management - 10.5 - CA Technologies Documentation

SOA Performance Management Compatibility - CA Application Performance Management - 10.5 - CA Technologies Documentation

Oracle WebLogic - CA Application Performance Management - 10.5 - CA Technologies Documentation

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have more specific questions.

    Thanks

    Hi Lynn,

Thanks for your response. You mean to say that the agent needs to be setup in every zone and configured as per the nature of the component present in the zone right?

In that case, if we run the transaction trace and include all these agents, will it show the complete transaction correlation like the order of calling components among the zone along with the other components called in those zones and time taken?

As per the docops says, is it supported in case of automatic transaction tracing for java applications only?

    Regards,

    Balram

    Hi Balram,

Yes to all 3 of your questions.

The last one relates specifically to the Smart Instrumentation Automatic Transaction Trace for which Cross-Process is limited to Java: Collect and Analyze Transaction Traces - CA Application Performance Management - 10.5 - CA Technologies Documentation
