  • 1.  Can 1 File Monitor Job Impact DE Performance?

    Posted Sep 20, 2017 04:46 PM

    Just wondering if anyone would know if 1 file monitor job could cause performance issues with DE. The particular file monitor job that I have monitors the tracelog file on our DE manager for the text that equates to a user choosing the subscribe all option. The job has  been monitoring for a few weeks now, continuously. Our tracelog files are on average 60MB. I have not noticed any impact to the performance, can someone verify whether or not it could be impacting the performance? Version is 11.3.3

    Hi Travis,

    In general any job once scheduled the agent takes over and the load is entirely on the agent. In your case please give us little more insight on what is that your are monitoring on trace log.txt

    The job is looking for the below text string. As stated, it monitors all day every day.

    criteria=*,activeOnly=false

    The text file reading and monitoring job is like any other job in DE, and will not impact the performance of the server.

    Improper maintenance of the database and workload monitoring like using the 'Subscribe All' could cause performance issue. You can consider disabling 'Subscribe All' option available in DE r12 and above, as against monitoring the logs.
