CA IDMS 19.0 will offload up to 100% of eligible processing to zIIP processors when available.  Eligible processing includes most CA IDMS internal processing.  User applications are not eligible due to IBM licensing restrictions.   Depending on the application mix and zIIP availability this can reduce CP usage and provide more "white space" for other applications.

I will second Mr. Ross’ comments – we went directly from 15 to 17 (we abandoned the 16 upgrade) to take advantage of z/IIP exploitation – now at 19,

In our backend-only CVs, we are seeing 99% reduction in “billable” cpu – approx. 100 million transactions per week – from .00024 seconds/transaction to .0000031 seconds/transaction

Even if no internal performance enhancements, this is a MAJOR benefit of R17 + (your mileage may vary depending upon # of z/IIP processors available and how much they are already used)
