Layer7 API Management

Hi All, 

We are getting ready to setup an API gateway cluster. Reading previous posts, I understand that we can chose either an externally hosted mysql database or mysql hosted on gateway OVA. 

Questions: 

- if we go the route of external mysql - is there any guidance on which mysql to use - there are multiple flavors of it available ... 

- If we plan on growing our API gateway cluster - would it be beneficial to go with external mysql to reduce the load on gateway node which is also hosting mysql? 

any guidance you can provide will help us out.

I would say its better to use the same version of mysql on external db as what we have on our appliance, yes it should  be beneficial when we talk dealing with high volume of requests.
