  • 1.  PM and Y1731 IPLSA test

    Posted Oct 13, 2017 11:27 AM

    Hello,

I need to do a report using data from an Y1731 IPLSA test that is configured on a network equipment / probe (the KPI that I pretend to capture is the Ethernet Jitter) . Is it possible to somehow discover this test that is configured on the equipment and add it to PM, so I can extract the information for the report?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards

    Hello Bruno,

Does the data and configuration for the test exist in the devices SNMP MIB data?

If yes it should be possible.

If yes the next question to answer is whether or not the MIB with the data is supported by one of the existing CAPM certifications.

Hope that helps get us headed in the right direction here.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hello Mike

    Thank you for the feedback!

In PM I see these OIDs that I want to retrieve being used in the "Response Path Test Ethernet Jitter".

The OIDs are being filled in the device. Example from a walk below:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.585.1.2.1.1.4.200.233688982 = Counter32: 74484

Note: The object above is "ipslaEtherJAggMeasuredNumRTTs"  OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.585.1.2.1.1.4

What appears in the equipment is "IPSLAOID.TestID.instance" (the test ID created directly in the equipment in the example above is 200, for example)

By the information I gave above, do you think is possible to discover this test with ID 200 in the equipment and add it in PM in an automatic way?

    Thank you.

    Best regards

    Bruno

    Hi Bruno,

That sounds promising. I would tied that VC to the device via the Metric Families and Collections.

What gets discovered for that certification? The expected tests? Nothing? Something else?

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Bruno,

Were you able to find any success regarding this request?

    Thanks,

    Michael

    Hello Michael,

    Not yet.

The device seems not to be certified in our PM version.

According to CA there is certification from PM 3.1 and above.

We are discussing the need of PM upgrade  internally.

    Thanks for the update Bruno.

Glad to hear you at least have an answer, and a direction to head for a solution.
