  • 1.  Inactive file system alerts

    Hi All,

Could anyone assist me how to ignore the inactive file system alerts in nimsoft ?

Its being seems that sometimes platform team is using USB or other temporary device, once it is plugged out, nimsoft throwing the inactive file system alerts.

    For e:g:

Local file system Z:\ is not available-Server1

What all the way we can stop if any drive goes to inactive mode and alerts will get suppressed automatically ?/

Is there any way to configure ignore filesystems in the control properties of CDM probe or in raw configuration of the probe ??

    Thanks

    Binod

Have you enabled to monitor the disks automatically?

Do you like CDM probe not trigger this alert when disk drive (CDM monitoring turned ON) is plugged out ?

or do you like CDM probe prevent specific disk from being recognized ?

If you like CDM probe prevent specific disk from being recognized, this may help you.

How to configure cdm to ignore specific filesystems, filesystem types or devices

By anyway these disks will be automatically deleted when it is not there.

    Thanks Yu .

Unfortunately, there is no other distinguishing feature to ignore the inactive drive. Mostly what I have seen in such alert details, the higher drive letter e.g: X,Y,Z,V.. are being used.

These drive could be anything like temporary USB drive, mapped network drive, storage etc .

In Nimsoft monitoring, there is a feature called auto discovery of disk drive enabled by default. In that case if any drive attached temporarily with the source server comes in monitoring automatically (cdm probe) and get alarm when the drive become inactive/missing as it remains active in CDM probe configuration. Here in these cases we can only make the specific drive monitoring inactive in Nimsoft to ignore the alerts.

One way to ignore the alert is to configure the higher drive letter agreed with platform team to ignore the drive letter. But again this will be a temporary solution.

My concern is is there any other way which will automatically ignore the inactive drive which are remove or plugged out from the server? The problem is the configuration which will remain active in cdm probe and need manual intervention to make it disable or unchecked.
