    Hi All,

Is it possible to create an alarm that can be emailed to a person that does not impact the NAS and doesn't fill up the alarm screen with alerts?  We have been asked by security to alarm when security processes get stopped, each of our 2500 servers have approx. 5 processes they want monitored. As you can see by doing the math that's going to be a lot of alerts,  even if we just set them to informational the NAS will have to handle the alerts. Is there a way in UIM to create an alert without an alarm of any severity, but still provide tracking and the ability to send a email notification?

    Thanks In Advance Big Time

Why don't you set them to invisible in a pre-process in the NAS ?

That way they still appear in the Alarm console for admin users (or certain users with that acl option) but not normal users.

    Hi Rowan,

Yeah I was kind of hoping to not fill the alarm screen with any messages at all. Currently we are averaging about 600 as it is.

Well, in that case you could write a pre-process which fires a LUA script which uses the action:email LUA extension to send the email and just don't return the event to the NAS.

So you should get the email sent without the alarm being processed into the NAS database.
