We need to move several CI's from one family to another. How can we do that? And is it possible without loosing CI's history?
Example:
CI: GAL116431
Class: CPU Family:
CPU
The new Familiy should be:
Family: Hardware.Workstation
CI: Workstation
Sebastian, I think you can use web interface to change that...all you would need to do is to open the CI, click on Edit button and then change the Class field to the new one and the family will be changed accordingly. Thanks _Chi
I can only change the class, but i dont have the class i mentioned.
what i mean is that i can't find the class workstation neither its spanish translation.
in your example, "
Class: CPU
"
So this CI has the class CPU?
Yes, I think the old administrator invented that. So the class is CPU, but when i dont find workstation. I will try your procedure with another class
When i tried with other family it did work and i kept the history. Do you know if there is a way to do a massive change?
Thank you!
you can search the CIs so you have the list(hopefully all CIs share something comment like have the same class; otherwise you would need to repeat this process a couple of times), and then click on "Edit in List" and then use "Change All" option to change all of them to the same class and the save.
Alternatively you can use GRLOADER
HI sperna - I agree here with both Chi and Brian. If its only a few hundred that need to be changed, then you can use Chi's idea of using Edit-In-List to change them. BUT, if its a much larger number, then I would recommend using GRLOADER to do the update (first by testing a small sub-set to make sure it does exactly what you want it to - then doing it in batches).
You can find info on using GRLOADER here:
General Resource Loader - GRLoader - CA Service Management - 17.0 - CA Technologies Documentation
Please let us know if you are good to go on this one.
Jon I.
thank you Jon! I have thousands so I will have to try the GRLOADER solution.
Thank you all!
Perfect!
Thanks for letting us know. Great team work !!
