  • 1.  Alias on server reverts back to hostname in UMP

    Hi

I am running UIM 8.5.1 SP1. In UMP I have two machines I wanted to change alias on. Both are identical (windows servers), for one of the machines when I change the alias to a new name, it stays for a couple of minutes and then reverts back to the old name again (same as hostname). I push the checkmark for save. On the other machine, the alias I give it stays. Any idea whats going on? How to make the change persistent?

What might be happening are correlation inconsistencies between the different sources of information stored in the discovery tables for the specific system. If this is the case, in the portal.log you should find a reference to the problematic system. What I would try is deleting the system from the inventory and have it rediscovered: How to reset discovery in CA UIM 8.10 or later

    Hello olsru01 ,

I would delete the Server using this steps:

Delete Devices in USM - CA Unified Infrastructure Management - 8.5.1 - CA Technologies Documentation

    Desacticvate:

    data engine
    nisServer
    DiscoveryServer

After lose port and PID Activate:

    data engine
    nisServer
    DiscoveryServer

Wait to get port and PID

    Then:

Set or create on the data_engine on the RAW configuration
    setup
    New Key
    Name:update_metric_id
    value: yes

If the issue persists: Run the following query:

    update S_QOS_DATA set ci_metric_id = NULL WHERE robot = 'robot_name'

    Nis Cache Clean:

    At the Robot
    Go to the Controller
    Press CTRL +P
    enable Expert mode
Select: Nis_cache_clean ( execute the play green button)
Select : reset_device_id_and_restart (execute the play green button)
