We're excited to announce another hot feature that you've been asking for! A new type of custom field populated with your Agile Central user list is now available.

This new field type will be available for work items, projects, workspaces and users, which will:

    • Allow better tracking of all contributors to work items, like testers, product owners/managers, etc.
    • Allow you to add other contributors to projects or workspaces
    • Allow associations between people by adding these fields to users, like manager or dev lead

To create these fields, administrators can select the Drop Down List (User) type in the field creation window:

    Some things to note:

    • User-type custom fields will not be supported in timesheets
    • User-type custom fields will not be selectable in reports

Thanks to morky01 for another awesome hackathon project that provides great value to our customers!

I already used my "PAWSOME" in another post, so I'm just going to instead say:

    HOLY USER-TYPE CUSTOM FIELDS, BATMAN!

Product Announcement - User-Type Custom Fields

Did the local news station pick up on this yet? If not I'll bet we'll see it tonight!

We are extremely interested in participating in the beta.  The day before this announcement we were lamenting not having this type of custom field in a meeting with VP and director level participants.  @grama23 pretty please with sugar on top.  We are in the midst of a big process change and this would be KEY!!  Thank you!!

Has there been a change to this field? We are using it in quite a few places, and in some cases we want to select a user who isn't necessarily a team member, and doesn't have edit rights to the item.  This was possible until recently, but today someone contacted me and pointed out that it now behaves just like the Owner field, which only allows you to select users with edit rights. While it makes sense that if you own something you need to be able to edit it, the custom user field should have more flexibility.  Does anyone know what changed?
