I am looking for information on any Automation Testing which people have integrated with CA PPM.

Can anyone can share details of what they have done in this area?

I would like to create automated tests that we could run to validate functionality when applying an upgrade or a patch of CA PPM.  There is so much functionality in the tool - we use most of it and validating in during an upgrade is very time consuming.

Hi Marina,

There are many tools for UI automation, but I like Selenium Web Driver the most for any UI Automation.

Just check to see if you can make use of it.

If you are opting for Selenium and starting it from scratch , I would suggest you go through the POM model for automation framework.

I use Telerik Test Studio to create automated tests for CA PPM. I mainly use the Record and Playback function in Test Studio to create the test cases, you may need to go through/update the "element" (object) to fix any issues encountered when playback the scripts. I also use the Verification feature within the Telerik to add the Verification point, and other functions, such as Wait, Comment, Clear Browser etc. I have used Win Runner and Quick Test Pro (Now should be UTF), they are similar to Telerik in term of usage. There is a good amount of webinars on You Tube about Telerik if you are interested.
