  • 1.  SQL 2017 Support for sqlserver?

Is there planned support for SQL 2017 for the sqlserver probe in UIM?

We are looking to move new SQL builds to 2017, but need to have sufficient monitoring in place.

    Thanks,

    Josh

So there would be two types of support for this

    1) UIM using this as a backend database. This will require a new certification and new version.

Currently I believe UIM 9.0 is slated to support SQL server 2016 when it is released but do not have hard confirmation on that as of yet.

    2) monitoring SQL 2017 with sqlserver probe or sql_response probe.

This two will require a new ER for the probe to be fully supported but I would not expect any of the current check points to not work on  sqlserver 2017.

Plus with the ability to write custom check points should there be a new metric that needs to be monitored that is not done out of the box you should be able to with your dba come up with a custom checkpoint to monitor it as needed.

    hope this helps clarify.
